A high-security drill was conducted from Renigunta airport to Tirumala hills on Tuesday by the police department, a day ahead of the visit of Vice-President of India C.P. Radhakrishnan and Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to the hill town.
The entire route was secured with barricades and monitored closely to prevent any unauthorized entry along the VVIP convoy’s path. CCTV cameras and specially deployed drones ensured round-the-clock surveillance.
The traffic police prepared an alternate route to divert regular traffic during the convoy’s movement through the city.
Ghat roads
Special police teams, bomb disposal squads, and dog squads thoroughly inspected the Tirumala ghat road, which the convoy will use to reach the hilltop. Anti-sabotage squads also combed the Seshachalam forest areas adjacent to the ghat road, checking under bridges, culverts, and other points prone to crowds, particularly popular with trekking devotees. Superintendent of Police L. Subbarayudu inspected the deployed rescue, medical, and fire safety teams. Speaking to the media, he assured that the department is fully prepared to handle the VVIP visit, which coincides with the launch of the annual Srivari Salakatla Brahmotsavams.
