Two young men died and another was injured after being hit by the Tirupati–Akola Express while crossing the railway track near Bolarum Bazar railway station in the wee hours of Saturday.
The incident occurred around 3.10 a.m. when the trio were crossing the railway line at kilometre 608/20.
The deceased were identified as Kondagala Karthik, 19, a daily wage worker from Karkhana in Medchal–Malkajgiri district, and Tanguturi Mallikarjun, 20, also a worker, from West Marredpally in Secunderabad. The injured man was identified as Shivanand, 35, a fisherman from Bollaram.
An officer from the Secunderabad Government Railway Police (GRP) said that the victims were struck by train number 07605 and thrown off the tracks. “Two of them died instantly, while the third was rushed to hospital with injuries,” said the officer.
The GRP visited the spot, shifted the bodies for post-mortem and registered a case.
